Lars K.

How did you come to be with Henkel?
I have a doctorate in chemical engineering and realised early that I wanted to work in the consumer goods industry after completing my professional training. To work on products that would come onto the market in due course is fascinating me. At some stage I sent an application to Henkel and received a telephone call only a few days later inviting me to an interview. It struck me as very positive that a company of this size reacted so fast.

What jobs have you done in the course of your career at Henkel?
Being a chemical engineer, I started working in the process development department in Henkel’s laundry and homecare division. After several interesting projects I was offered a job rotation – one of Henkel’s opportunities for personal development. As I knew Marketing from previous cooperations with the department, and because the work they did particularly attracted me, I tried to move into Marketing. Now I am responsible as junior brand manager for the brand Pril.

What is the nature of your work in that capacity?
My main task is brand managing with strategic orientation. This encompasses project management with a variety of interdisciplinary interfaces such as Design and advertising agencies, R&D colleagues, Sales and many other departments. In addition my work includes detailed market analyses and analysis of purchaser and consumer behaviour patterns.

What does your typical working day look like?
My typical working day consists of project meetings, analytical work on the computer and creative work, e.g. to develop new product concepts for Pril.

Is there anything special about your working environment?
The diversity of my work is remarkable as well as the high level of networking with other departments. Pleasant colleagues and superiors create an atmosphere in which work is enjoyable – in my view this positive undertone is typical of Henkel.
